Power tool OEM & MRO support

Replacement components that extend tool service life

Industrial power tools and heavy-duty hand tools (e.g. drills, impact wrenches, jackhammers, grinders) can remain in use for years while original parts become obsolete. Commercial Gear helps OEMs and maintenance teams keep these tools running by manufacturing custom gears, shafts, splines and related components to customer drawings and specifications.

Projects can start with a customer-supplied blank or involve a full machining and gear-cutting route to build the component from raw stock. Our gear inspection capabilities add another layer of support: we can measure gear profile, lead, runout and other characteristics to identify hidden wear or geometry issues before producing a replacement.

Answers to your tool project questions

Power tool gear & component FAQs.

Common questions about custom gears, replacement parts, sprockets and manufacturing for power-tool projects.

Yes. Commercial Gear supports tool OEMs and repair shops by manufacturing gears and related parts to customer drawings and specifications. Depending on the project, work can begin with a customer-supplied blank or include broader machining and gear-cutting operations to produce the complete component.

Commercial Gear produces spur, helical, bevel and miter, worm and internal gears, along with other drivetrain components. The appropriate manufacturing process depends on the gear geometry and drawing requirements—our team will advise on the best approach for your tool’s specifications.

Yes. CNC turning and milling are routinely combined with gear manufacturing to produce bores, shafts, hubs, keyways, holes and other features. This integrated approach can simplify production and reduce the need for multiple suppliers by creating more of the component in one place.

Commercial Gear has dedicated gear inspection equipment for evaluating profile, lead, composite variation, runout and other dimensional requirements. Inspection can help diagnose whether gear geometry or wear is contributing to a performance issue in your tool’s gearbox or mechanism.

Yes. Commercial Gear manufactures custom sprockets and can perform supported modifications to appropriate stock sprockets, including reboring, keyway machining and drilling. Commercial Gear is also a longtime U.S. Tsubaki distributor, so standard roller-chain sprockets are available for conveyor or tooling applications if needed.

Send your available drawing or CAD file along with component details: gear or sprocket specifications, material, bore/shaft dimensions, quantity and tolerances. Include any inspection or material requirements and information about how the part interfaces with mating components (e.g. gear meshing, backlash, or alignment requirements). The more information you can provide, the faster we can evaluate your tool component needs.
