OEM & MRO support

Keep mining equipment running at full production

Mining equipment often operates 24/7 under extreme loads, abrasive dust and vibration. When original parts wear out or become obsolete, Commercial Gear provides custom gears, sprockets and related components manufactured to customer specifications for both OEM and MRO teams.

Our turn-key manufacturing can start from a customer-supplied blank or blank-machining in-house, then proceed through CNC turning/milling, gear hobbing or shaping, and heat treating to produce a complete heavy-duty component.

Inspection is critical in mining applications, where misalignment or tooth wear can cause costly failures. Commercial Gear’s dedicated inspection services (profile, lead, composite, runout, etc.) help identify gear geometry issues and ensure replacement parts will meet the exact requirements of your equipment.

Built for heavy industrial service

Built for the demands of mining machinery

Mining operations require durable components that withstand harsh environments and long service intervals. Commercial Gear brings gear cutting, machining and inspection together under one roof to meet those challenges for customer-defined power-transmission parts.

OEM & MRO Support

Manufacturing for new equipment production as well as maintenance and repair needs.

Heavy-Duty Gearing

Capable of custom spur, helical, bevel, miter and worm gears built to handle high torque and heavy loads.

Hard-Finish Treatment

Support for induction hardening, carburizing or nitriding on gear teeth for improved wear life (customer-specified finishes).

Dedicated Gear Inspection

Gear geometry and tooth contact analyzed to verify profile, lead, composite and runout, helping prevent premature failures.

CNC Machining

Turning and milling for bores, shafts, hubs, keyways and other features integral to mining components.

Sprocket Solutions

Commercial Gear has supported industrial projects since 1946, bringing generations of experience to heavy-equipment applications.

Gears & power-transmission components

What we manufacture for mining equipment

From custom gears to modified sprockets and machined components, Commercial Gear delivers the parts mining operations need to stay productive.

Custom gears

Custom Gears & Gear Components

Custom spur, helical, bevel, miter and worm gears manufactured to customer drawings and specifications. Gears can be supplied with customer-required finishes (hardened, plated, etc.). Specialized gear-cutting is combined with in-house blank machining and optional inspection for complete control.

Custom made sprockets in a range of diameters.
Sprockets

Sprockets & Chain Drive Parts

Custom sprocket manufacturing plus modification of appropriate stock sprockets. Operations include reboring, machining keyways, drilling and machining other features to meet the exact chain drive requirements of conveyors, feeders and drag chain systems.

Custom cut internal and external splines.
Power-transmission components

Splines, Racks & Machined Components

Internal/external splines, spline shafts, large-diameter shafting, rack gears and related machined components for mining equipment. CNC turning and milling create precise bores, shafts, hubs and keyways that integrate with gear or drive assemblies.

Answers to your project questions

Mining equipment gear & component FAQs.

Questions about custom gears, sprockets and replacement components for mining machinery.

Yes. Commercial Gear supports mining OEM and MRO projects by manufacturing custom gears to customer drawings and specifications. We can start from a customer-supplied blank or include blank machining, gear cutting and secondary machining to deliver a ready-to-install gear for equipment like conveyors, crushers or hoists.

Commercial Gear manufactures spur, helical, bevel and miter, worm and internal gears. The right gear type depends on the equipment (e.g. helical for high-load conveyors, bevel for right-angle drives). We also produce splines, shafting and other components that integrate with these gears.

Yes. CNC turning and milling are used to add bores, shafts, hubs, keyways, holes and other features to custom gears or gearbox components. This lets us provide more complete components in one manufacturing step, reducing lead time compared to using multiple suppliers.

Yes. We have dedicated gear inspection equipment to measure profile, lead, tooth thickness variation, composite and runout. This helps diagnose issues like excessive wear, misalignment or improper tooth contact that can cause gearbox failures or drive inefficiencies in mining equipment.

Yes. We manufacture custom sprockets to match chain size, pitch and tooth count for conveyor or drag chain systems. We can also modify stock sprockets by reboring, cutting keyways, drilling holes and adding hubs as needed. Commercial Gear has been a longtime U.S. Tsubaki distributor for chain and sprocket products.

Please send your drawing or CAD file with as much detail as possible: component type (gear, sprocket, etc.), gear data (module, tooth count, pressure angle), material, bore/shaft dimensions, tolerances and quantity. Also include relevant information like mating equipment or operating conditions (load, speed, lubrication environment) to ensure the replacement part meets your mining equipment requirements.
