Custom gears, sprockets and machined power-transmission components for defense and military equipment OEMs and maintenance programs.
Commercial Gear’s precision gear manufacturing, CNC machining and dedicated inspection capabilities support the development and upkeep of mission-critical defense hardware.
Custom or modified parts – made and verified for mission-critical use.
Defense vehicles and equipment often remain in operation for decades, creating a sustained need for replacement parts and custom components. Commercial Gear supports defense OEMs and military MRO teams with custom gear and sprocket manufacturing to customer drawings and specifications. We can work with an existing drawing or a customer-supplied blank to produce a component that meets your exact requirements.
In many cases, a standard or “stock” component may serve as a starting point. A standard gear or sprocket can be supplied as-is when its tooth count, pitch, bore and mounting match the requirement. If the fit or interface differs, we can modify a stock component by adding features such as a machined bore, keyway or drilled holes. Only when a stock part cannot meet the requirement do we recommend fully custom-manufactured components built from the ground up.
Precision and reliability are paramount in defense equipment. Commercial Gear combines specialized gear cutting, machining and inspection to meet these needs.
In-house manufacturing for new production and maintenance requirements, supporting both OEM projects and military spare-part programs.
Custom manufacturing when original or standard parts are unavailable or obsolete.
Manufacture of spur, helical, bevel/miter, worm and internal gears to customer specifications.
State-of-the-art inspection of gear geometry (profile, lead, composite error, runout) to ensure precision and performance.
Integrated turning and milling for bores, shafts, hubs, keyways and other features, enabling a complete component solution.
We follow ISO-aligned quality practices and produce to AGMA standards as required. This commitment supports the high reliability demanded by defense applications.
Components can be produced from high-grade materials and finishes to withstand harsh environments and long service life.

Questions about custom gears, replacement components, sprockets and manufacturing for defense equipment projects.
Yes. Commercial Gear supports OEM and military MRO projects by manufacturing gears and components to customer drawings. Projects can use a customer-supplied blank or start from gear cutting, depending on requirements.
We manufacture spur, helical, bevel & miter, worm and internal gears, as well as associated power-transmission parts. The production method depends on the gear geometry and the customer’s specifications.
Absolutely. CNC turning and milling are often integrated with our gear cutting processes to produce bores, shafts, hubs, keyways, holes and other specified features in one part.
Yes. We use dedicated gear inspection equipment (profile, lead, composite, runout, etc.) to verify gear geometry and diagnose issues. State-of-the-art instruments detect profile and lead deviations and other errors in incoming or produced gears.
Yes. We manufacture custom sprockets and modify appropriate stock sprockets. Supported modifications include reboring, keyway cutting, drilling and tapping as required. (Commercial Gear has been a U.S. Tsubaki distributor for decades, supporting sprocket and chain needs.)
For any gear or sprocket, provide the available drawing or CAD file, gear/sprocket data (type, tooth count, pitch), material, bore/shaft dimensions, quantity and tolerances. Include any required features (keyways, holes, etc.) and inspection requirements. Mating-component details (shaft, gear or equipment interface) should be included when fit or function depends on another part.
