Job Description: CNC Machining programmer/set up
Title: Machine Department Manager/Forman

Job summary

  • Primarily responsible for efficient and effective production.
  • Must produce product in adherence to Quality Management System. 
  • Ability to completely set-up CNC lathes and mills; write "G" code programming via cad-cam software, program file management, Quality planning, set-up chucks, tool holders, tooling, fixtures and adjust tooling offsets as required to manufacture product meeting print specifications by means of standard measuring instruments & strong knowledge in using CMMs, Adjust tool position, functions, and settings properly as well as feed and speed rates as they relate to insert wear and chip formation.
  • Understand and perform basic machine maintenance and assist with repairs as needed and replace worn inserts, drills, and/or tooling.
  • Operate hand and power tools as required to perform job assignments.

Job requirements / experience needed:

Skills

  • Minimum 5yrs machine shop experience, at least 3yrs experience with respect to management or progressive supervision
  • Experience within the gear manufacturing industry a plus
  • Productive and effective written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Previous experience with respect to developing and executing material flow plans in efforts to achieve production requirements
  • Experience with procurement and machine operating such as CNC, milling, lathe, finishing, manual lathe, (Wire EDM a plus).
  • Experience with and exposure to CNC programming methodologies as well as cellular manufacturing also a plus
  • Effectively and productively interface with employee issues, customer needs, and any supplier issues with respect to production requirements
  • Proven track record of operational improvements accomplishments such as cycle time reductions, tooling cost improvements, and performance output
  • Maintains a positive attitude and promotes a “team” approach throughout the Department.
  • Lubricates and cleans machines as necessary.
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. Works safely, and complies with all established safety rules and work practices.
  • Performs multiple operations as required.
  • Supporting internal and external customers, strong focus on continual quality improvement, on-time delivery, operational and organizational efficiency, and minimizing costs
  • Work plan and development implementation to improve turn-around time and inventory management.
  • Machine shop environment background preferred. Basic mathematical skills, ability to read, understand and interpret prints, experience with measuring instruments, experience completing reports and documentation, read and understand written directions & procedures. Self-motivated and willing to work with minimal supervision.
  • Associates Degree a plus
  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arm; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Gear Equipment Set Up / Operator

Job Description

Title: Gear shop Forman
Department: Gear Department
Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

Job summary

  • Perform basic operational functions of Gear cutting machines
  • Mount align and secure tooling, attachments and work piece on machine
  • Familiar with cutting, Spur, Sprocket, Helical, Bevel, Worm thread milling & internal gears
  • Install cutting tools in machines
  • Calculate and set machine controls to position tools in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow
  • Stop machine to change cutting tools & setup in accordance to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blue print specifications, using precision measuring equipment
  • Maintain proper machine maintenance, tooling, other related equipment in proper condition
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with CG&S policies, 5S procedures, and in line with CG&S core values.

Requirements, responsibilities:

• Engineer set up info for gear manufacturing equipment.
• Quality plan for running gear jobs
• Ability to set up & operate Shapers, Hobbers & Bevel gear generators & related cutting tool sharpeners. however; we can train the right candidate.

Minimum requirements

• high school diploma, 5 years operating gear equipment with some machining (manual lathe & mill).
• strong understanding of gear Q.C. functions: mesuring lead & profile & what to do to correct out of tolerance parts.
• Set up & operate; 5 years set up experience, some engineering education or, understanding, Tool sharpening experience plus the above.

Abilities required experience.
• Be able to keep several pieces of gear equipment running throughout the day.
• Some Heavy lifting, some strenuous mechanical work.

  • Locate new customers and maintain existing accounts.
